Artwork Description
On Orwell St, in the heart of Kings Cross, sits the urban oasis of the Springfield Gardens, a small place for rest and quiet reflection. The shaded, leafy plaza, with its welcoming benches and landscaped gardens, invites passers-by to stop, relax a while, and take time out from their busy lives.
The gardens are the setting for Michael Snape’s Reflections, a bold, contemporary sculpture of two abstract silhouetted figures, seemingly absorbed in silent communion.
The sculpture, formed from enamelled metal in a muted deep red that blends perfectly with the earthen colours of the plaza’s neat brickwork, creates a focal point within the gardens.
